VAPC has been actively involved with a KAIROS Calgary Working Group to develop a project to help end family homelessness in Calgary. KAIROS Calgary has teamed up with the Calgary Homeless Foundation (CHF) on the Acadia Place Project. Community Development at Acadia Place is provided through CUPS. The complex is two buildings totaling 58 apartments and is being used to provide affordable “housing first” homes to families. VAPC has been involved with volunteer support to the residents and in fundraising to help pay down the mortgage to allow Acadia Place to be sustainable on a long term basis.

This year we hope to expand our involvement to another CHF/CUPS building under the same model that is being used at Acadia Place. The Longbow building has 25 units of affordable housing and is located in NW Calgary. This will provide even more opportunities for VAPC to get involved with providing direct support to residents and helping to end homelessness in Calgary. Stay tuned for more details on this exciting mission project.

Thanks to everyone who supported the Acadia Place project. We are making a difference in the lives of the families at Acadia Place.
